ode to mom

it’s not easy being a mother. my mom gave her everything with the best of her ability. this is my expression of gratitude for all her sacrifices.

be still and listen

many times we were caught up in our daily challenges but until we take time to be still and listen to our inner voices, we will never know what brings true joy to us.

i am the poem

written while walking in the woods to identify my purpose .

i'm in love

being in love is a beautiful experience. however, are we in love with the person or the idea of that person?"

how to snag a meander

""
this was written as a challenge from my niece, Melissa, to reference the poem, "how to eat a poem", by Eve Merriam.

inner struggle

although successful individuals may look like they have everything working for them, they too have inner struggles to face

i can't help it.

written with reference to stories of individuals struggling with their actions.

hey! do you know me?

there were times when we thought we knew each other very well because of the long span of time we had known each other. but the question still begs to be answered: "do we really?"

time to free your voice

I was in this cafe, "free the robot", and I thought, what about freeing our voice and make ourselves be truly heard and understood? that's how this poem was written.

don't be

there were many times we did things not knowing whether it was the right thing to do and we regretted or got angry with ourselves or others.  this was written to remind ourselves to own our decisions. Search for what needs to be done to bring us joy.

don't ask me why

sometimes we infuriate others with the lack of answers.  because we may not have answers to everything.  even those who claim they have answers to everything would realise they don’t, some of the time.

just because

we sometimes just went with the flow of how things were done without challenging the status quo. this was written to ask "why things have to be the way they always been?"

options

there were times people claimed that they had no choice but….the truth was, we always had options  -   whether we wanted to take those options and live with the consequences was what needed to be answered.

our journey
our quest our purpose

this was written after a purpose quest journey with a group of friends in Louisiana, USA, where we explored and realized our purpose in life.

stand out

with the rave of social media in our midst, some of us feel compelled to do something to stand out. the question is, what is the purpose of standing out?

legend of the bold

there’s a perception that the bold needs to be either different or loud or a bully.  I beg to differ.

if i

there is a common fear of communicating difficult conversations.  yet those conversations are vital for authentic relationships.

the rubriks side of me

it’s with reference to the Rubik's cube that there are many combinations of us showing up to different people – where we see fit. no one really knows the “true us” unless we know we are accepted without any judgement.

we are more than this

during one of my morning walks I wrote this while pausing at the side of the road.  looking around me, I noticed nature, with it’s inability to communicate in words and yet have a strong sense of survival.  hence, human with all their capabilities given to them, have to be far more than what we believed to be.

one love one jazz

this was written to pay tribute and gratitude to the Young Presidents Organization’s Certified Forum Facilitators and management staff in putting together a memorable retreat in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, in 2018, one which was loaded with nuggets of self-development and self-empowerment skills for all.

time to lift off

this was written from a mother to her daughter to encourage her to launch into her journey to fulfil her dreams.

journey i own

written in Hue, Vietnam.  this is a reminder for me and many others that we are unique and hence, we owe it to ourselves to chart our own paths - one that will make us feel alive everyday!
