I was on my morning walk one day and just mindfully observing everything that’s around me. I noticed that every plant that wanted to survive, will sprout through the cracks of the roof of houses or sidewalks. Even an injured bird, would still try its efforts to jump up the curb. There was so much evidence of the strong will to survive from nature itself. Hence, how are we humans, who are supposed to be of higher intelligence than nature, be happily confining ourselves to what we were told we can do or cannot do?

There are a lot of trepidation within us when we thought of embarking on a whole new career. Even when we are gifted with the skills we have within us, sometimes, we still doubt ourselves. This was written from a mother to a child to encourage her to step out to live her dreams. It will not be perfect but at least, she has the courage to embark on it. Because she has the support of her parents and if she don’t try, she will never know.
This was written to honor every Young Presidents Organization’s Certified Forum Facilitators and management staff who toiled and dedicated their all to an amazing retreat in Louisiana, New Orleans on Dec 2018. Underneath the fun and games, the immense revelation and learning through self-discovery, self-disclosure and self-empowerment rocked me so much so, I had to write the poem on my flight back home. I wanted to pay tribute to every hero and every connection at that awesome retreat!
This was written during my holiday with my daughter in Hue, Vietnam. From the simplicity of surroundings in the area to the friendliness of the people we interacted with, I thought about how much we set expectations out of our good intentions to each other, especially to our children. Because we feel responsible for their future, we may sometimes chart their career paths from our own perspectives. However, each one of us is different and it’s actually unreasonable to decide what should be the path of another.
